No riding for me on either Monday or Tuesday due to long days at work but Wednesday, decided to go to Bewls Water, a ride which I had only done a couple of times previously. On these rides, I normally plan them on first and transfer the trace onto my Garmin, as the Edge 305 doesn’t support maps. How can anyone get it so wrong. After about 28 miles, I got to Wadhurst where I inadvertently went off course. I tried to get back on course by riding towards the nearest part of the trace on the Garmin. Eventually, I found it but it’s not until a few miles down the road that I realised that I was actually going along the trace in the direction of where I had just come from, by which time, I just decided to carry on. To top it all, I got lost again on the way home. Apart from all that, it was quite a good ride. I kept my HR at a reasonable level and felt quite strong on the hills.

As an aside, during this ride, I passed the 2000th mile of the year.

Unfortunately, that’s it for this week. A bit weak I know but due to over indulgence on Friday night, I really didn’t feel too good on Saturday.

Sunday, I made a few alterations to the Fondriest. I bought a Specialized Toupe saddle to replace my old Selle-Italia Flite and Ritchey Comp v2 Stem and Comp Logic 2 Bars. I’ve been getting back ache on longer rides as the reach for the bars was quite long and low. The trouble is that I don’t have any spacers on the steerer tube so had to angle the 90mm stem upwards. First impressions are quite positive. I’ll give it a good test tomorrow (Monday).
