No riding for me on either Monday or Tuesday due to long days at work but Wednesday, decided to go to Bewls Water, a ride which I had only done a couple of times previously. On these rides, I normally plan them on RidewithGPS.com first and transfer the trace onto my Garmin, as the Edge 305 doesn’t support maps. How can anyone get it so wrong. After about 28 miles, I got to Wadhurst where I inadvertently went off course. I tried to get back on course by riding towards the nearest part of the trace on the Garmin. Eventually, I found it but it’s not until a few miles down the road that I realised that I was actually going along the trace in the direction of where I had just come from, by which time, I just decided to carry on. To top it all, I got lost again on the way home. Apart from all that, it was quite a good ride. I kept my HR at a reasonable level and felt quite strong on the hills.
As an aside, during this ride, I passed the 2000th mile of the year.
Unfortunately, that’s it for this week. A bit weak I know but due to over indulgence on Friday night, I really didn’t feel too good on Saturday.
Sunday, I made a few alterations to the Fondriest. I bought a Specialized Toupe saddle to replace my old Selle-Italia Flite and Ritchey Comp v2 Stem and Comp Logic 2 Bars. I’ve been getting back ache on longer rides as the reach for the bars was quite long and low. The trouble is that I don’t have any spacers on the steerer tube so had to angle the 90mm stem upwards. First impressions are quite positive. I’ll give it a good test tomorrow (Monday).
